Trump announces immediate end to all trade talks with canada
Washington - Saba: U.S. President Donald Trump announced the immediate termination of all trade discussions with Canada in response to Ottawa's decision to impose a digital services tax targeting American tech companies. In a post on the social media platform "Truth Social" on Friday, President Trump described Canada's digital services tax as a "direct and brazen attack on the United States." Trump stated, "Based on this outrageous tax, we are hereby ending all trade discussions with Canada, effective immediately." He added, "We will inform Canada of the tariffs they will pay to deal with the United States within the next seven days." The U.S. president further remarked, "We have just been informed that Canada—a country that has been very difficult to trade with, especially as it has imposed tariffs of up to 400% on our dairy farmers for years—has announced it will impose a digital services tax targeting American tech companies. This is a direct and blatant assault on our country." He continued, "Clearly, they are copying what the European Union did by imposing the same tax, which is now also in discussions with us on this matter." Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had announced last Monday that he and President Trump agreed to work toward a new economic and security agreement between their two countries within 30 days. The two leaders had met earlier on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Alberta, where Trump reiterated his insistence on tariffs. A statement from the Canadian Prime Minister's Office said, "Prime Minister Carney and President Trump exchanged updates on key issues in the negotiations for a new economic and security relationship between Canada and the United States." Notably, the total value of U.S. goods trade with Canada reached approximately $762 billion in 2024, according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Meanwhile, the U.S. president escalated his threat to increase tariffs on certain countries by the July 9 deadline. Trump's remarks on Friday are the latest indication that some negotiations with major partners may extend beyond early July. However, the U.S. president is considering higher tariff rates for smaller economies that have not reached agreements with the United States. During a press conference at the White House, Trump stated, "At some point in the next week and a half, or maybe sooner, we will send a message. Gaza – Saba: Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced on Friday evening that they had struck a gathering of Zionist enemy soldiers and vehicles north of Khan Younis. In a brief statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), Al-Qassam clarified that they targeted the enemy forces and military equipment in the Western Line area, north of Khan Younis, with medium-caliber mortar shells. Earlier in the day, the Brigades, in coordination with Saraya Al-Quds, had shelled a gathering of Zionist enemy soldiers and vehicles infiltrating the vicinity of the Halima Mosque in Joret Al-Lout area, south of Khan Younis, with heavy mortar shells. This comes as part of the Palestinian factions' response to the genocidal crimes committed by the Zionist enemy, with American support, against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023—including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement—in defiance of international appeals and the International Court of Justice's orders to halt the aggression. Zionist enemy forces storm Kafr Malik near Ramallah & Al-Khader Town South of Bethlehem
Ramallah - Saba: Zionist enemy forces stormed the village of Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah, on Friday. According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), local sources reported that a foot patrol of the enemy army raided Kafr Malik and broke into several homes. The sources noted that the raids focused on the area where settlers had carried out a bloody attack last Wednesday evening, resulting in the martyrdom of three Palestinians and the burning of a house and two vehicles. A video clip showed enemy soldiers tearing down pictures of the three martyrs from the village, who were killed while confronting the settlers' assault. Enemy Forces Also Raid Al-Khader South of Bethlehem Meanwhile, enemy forces stormed the town of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, overnight. WAFA reported that the forces deployed near the gate on the main road (Jerusalem-Hebron), closed the road leading to the old town, and detained several young men. The agency added that the enemy forces fired live ammunition and chased a number of youths. Settlers Attack Farmers in Shuqba and South Hebron In a separate incident, settlers attacked Palestinian farmers on their agricultural land in the town of Shuqba, west of Ramallah, on Friday evening. The settlers forced the farmers off land owned by one of them in the northwest of the town, threatening them with a machine gun. A video showed an armed settler pushing a young man and firing shots into the air when the farmers refused to leave. Additionally, armed settlers demolished an agricultural structure, razed land, and attacked homes and farmland south of Hebron on Friday. Activist Osama Mkhamreh told WAFA that a group of armed settlers from the "Ateniel" settlement used a bulldozer to destroy a 50-square-meter agricultural barracks in "Khallet Al-Farra," west of Yatta, owned by citizen Ahmed Abu Sabah. They also leveled surrounding farmland. In the "Ikhal Al-Homs" area, southeast of Yatta, armed settlers attacked the house of citizen Mohammed Abdullah Obeid, smashing windows and stealing furniture, equipment, and mobile phones from his wife and son to prevent them from documenting the assault. Enemy forces later detained Obeid for several hours for interrogation. The settlers also shattered the windows of a health clinic and released their cattle into farmers' fields and near their homes, destroying irrigation networks and uprooting numerous fruitful grapevines and trees. American poll shows decline in public support for "Israel" & rise in backing for Hamas
Occupied Quds - Saba: A recent poll conducted by the American "Harris-Harvard" institute and published by the Zionist newspaper Maariv revealed a notable decline in positive American views toward "Israel," dropping from 53% to 41% since the start of the war on Gaza. Meanwhile, opposition to "Israel" rose from 21% to 30%. The poll also indicated that nearly half of young Americans expressed support for the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas—a finding the newspaper described as "extremely concerning." The survey was commissioned at the request of a subcommittee in the Zionist Knesset, and its results were presented during a special parliamentary session. Earlier in June, the American Pew Research Center released a large-scale global survey showing a significant increase in negative sentiments toward "Israel" and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes in Gaza. The results indicated that public opinion toward "Israel" was unfavorable in 20 out of the 24 countries surveyed. Fidan: Iran's actions were self-defense, exposed Israel's limited capability
Ankara - Saba: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Friday that Iran's recent actions constituted "legitimate self-defense," noting that "Tehran's response revealed the limitations of Israel's ability to target Iran's nuclear capabilities." In press remarks, Fidan said, "What we have seen demonstrates that Israel is not strong enough to eliminate Iran's nuclear program." He added that the recent developments in the region were not unexpected for Ankara. "We anticipated that the war would not remain confined to Gaza but would expand to a broader geography, which is exactly what happened with Iran," he said. The Turkish minister pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), launched the war against Iran driven by domestic political motives. Fidan stated that Netanyahu's recent escalation aims to secure personal gains at the expense of regional security.
